    During the week of Juneteenth 2021, we celebrated the one-year anniversary of the DC Department of Public Works’ MuralsDC51 project - 51 DC statehood murals created by local artists and located in all eight city wards. These murals show that DC is much more than the federal government and its monuments.

  • Quilts4DC Statehood

    In July 2021, the Quilts4DC Statehood Challenge invited quilters to celebrate the opportunity for Washington, DC to become the 51st state. The Challenge has received 54 entries from 44 quilters in 14 states and DC. The quilts celebrate the natural, historic, visual, and ethnic richness of DC and speak to the challenge that residents face in achieving the full rights of US citizenship.
