Why Statehood4DC?
Nearly 700,000 Americans call Washington, DC home yet have no voting representation in Congress. DC is a community with a vibant culture: a majority-minority city, whose continued disenfranchisement reflects the historic and ongoing racism that has deprived us of full citizenship. Statehood will bring true democracy to DC.
The time for DC Statehood is NOW! If you care about abortion rights, gun control, and voting rights, DC’s new Congress members will work for these issues and more when DC becomes the 51st state.
Our Mission
Statehood4DC focuses on educating Americans and elected officials about why DC must become our nation’s 51st state. We develop creative and engaging projects that build nationwide support for DC Statehood. As our nation struggles to ensure voting rights for all of its citizens, it is time to include the rights of DC citizens in the fight.
